Loving husband of the late Pasqua Rosa (nee Caira) (1986). <br /><br />Loving father of the late Angelo (1990) and wife Emilia (nee Pacitti), Lorenzo and wife Pietrina (Tina) (nee Capaldi) and Elsa and husband Vincenzo Coppola. <br /><br />Dear Nonno to Sergio and wife Margaret (Ceccacci) Rufo, Fabio and wife Lisa (Dufour) Rufo, Venessa (Rufo) Spizzirri and husband Mark, Nicolina (Coppola) Paciocco and husband Gino, Emmanuel Rufo and Sebastiano Coppola. Dear Bisnonno of Angelo Rufo, Giancarlo Rufo, Julia Rufo, David Rufo, Daniel Rufo, Gianmarco Spizzirri, Paolo Spizzirri and Ella Paciocco. <br /><br />Survived by his sister Alessandrina (Rufo) Valente and husband Giuliano and brothers / sisters-in-law Antoinetta (Caira) and husband Orazio Donatelli (Scotland), Antonio and wife Pierina Caira (England), Livia (Caira) and husband Santino Mammone (Montreal) and Michele and wife Rosa Caira (Italy). Predeceased by his parents Tito and Anna Maria (DeSantis) Rufo (Italy) and his siblings Vittoria (Rufo) Zinetti and husband Giovanni (Italy), Lucia (Rufo) Marcantonio and husband Vincenzo (Italy); his father and mother-in-law Raffaele and Domenica (Cervi) Caira and sister-in-law Brigita (Caira) and her husband Giuliano Gricci (Italy). <br /><br />Alberto moved his family to Germany in 1964 to make a better life for his family, then continued his journey and moved to Montreal in 1967, finally settling in Amherstburg in 1968. He worked many jobs such as bartending at the Verdi Club, Marra's Bread, Woolco Department Store, Windsor Chrome Plating before working and then retiring from SKD after 13 years. He was a self-taught Pifara (Piffero) player and enjoyed playing this instrument in different towns during the Christmas Season in Italy. <br /><br />Alberto loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, gardening, making his own wine, reading the Italian newspaper to keep up with the news, listening to Italian Folk Music especially the Accordion and riding his bicycle around Amherstburg. <br /><br />He was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Church in Amherstburg, because of his devotion to the Roman Catholic Church he served many years as an Altar Server as a young boy in Italy. Alberto was also a part of the Gruppo Veterani d'Italia Windsor Chapter and the Giovani Pensionati Del Verdi Club. <br /><br />He was also a soldier in the Italian Army during World War II in the Aeronautics Division and a prisoner of war when he was captured in Russia. <br /><br />A special thank-you to the staff of Dolce Vita Retirement Living, Dr. Chow and staff at the Windsor Regional Ouellette Campus 2 North for taking such good care of our father. <br /><br />Visiting at theJAMES H. SUTTON FUNERAL HOME401 Sandwich St. S. Amherstburg Wednesday from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 8 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2015, leaving the funeral home at 10 a.m. going to St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Entombment at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. <br /><br />If so desired, Memorial donations may be made to the St. John the Baptist Restoration Fund or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
