<div itemprop="description">TASKEY, Ann Rose <br>It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our remarkable mother, Ann Rose Taskey on January 19, 2017 in her 98th year. <br>Loving mother of Lubomyr and his wife Janice, Alexis Yarem (Robert 2002) and William (1971). <br>Loving Babcha of Andrew (Amy), David (Carey), Robert (Nimalie), Stephanie (Jeremy), Olanna, Andrea (Rob), Julianne and Alexander. <br>Adored great-grandmother of Brendan, Natalie, Madeline, Kate, Jonathan and Sophia. <br>Survived by brother Walter Martyniuk (Molly 2004) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. <br>Predeceased by her husband, Alexander, son William, brother Dr. Frank and sister-in-law Jean Martyniuk, sister Olly and brother-in-law Michael Stechey. <br>Ann was born on September 21, 1919 in Kinogama Siding, Ontario to the late Joseph and Helen (Harmacy) Martyniuk. In 1926, the family settled in Windsor, Ontario where Ann attended John Campbell Elementary and Kennedy Collegiate. <br>In 1939, she moved to Amherstburg and became manager of the Hi Grade Market on the corner of Apsley and Murray Streets. She met and married the love of her life, Alexander, in 1942. Together, they purchased the Hi Grade establishment, renamed it “Taskeys” and embarked on a 35 year adventure in the retail food industry. <br>A proud Canadian Ukrainian, Ann was an active member of the Ukrainian National Federation (OYK) for over 80 years. She worked tirelessly with the Amherstburg Ukrainian community in the establishment of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church at Bellvue. <br>Ann served her community as a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Red Cross and as a Rotarian, she was active in the Easter Seal campaigns. <br>Ann devoted her life to her family, faith, friends and, to anyone in need. She was a friend to all and mother of many. <br>The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Darleen and Ron Swintak and to Patricia Stechey for their generosity of time in the compassionate care of their mother. The family also thanks the UNF community for their heartfelt concern and support. <br>Visitation will be at the James H. Sutton Funeral Home, 401 Sandwich St. S., Amherstburg (519-736-2134) on Monday, January 23rd from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Panachyda at 7:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are requested to meet at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church, 601 Lake Trail Drive, Windsor, on Tuesday, January 24th for funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St.John the Baptist Cemetery in Amherstburg. <br>In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Ukrainian Women’s Organization Scholarship Fund or to the charity of choice.
