1923-2014
Passed away peacefully at Richmond Terrace on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 with his family by his side. Survived by his devoted wife Cornelia (Nellie) and nine children: Michael (Anita), James, Patricia Wood, Thomas, Debra (Doug) Bray, Dennis (Deb), Jeff (Carol), Donald, Mark. Also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Michael is the son of the late James Joseph White and Hannah (nee Hurley) and is survived by his sister Mary Thrasher. Predeceased by his siblings James, Theresa (Tessie), Josephine (Josie), John, Anne, and Brendan.
He was a proud Veteran of World War II and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 157. Michael served as an International representative for the UAW/CAW for many years. He was the recipient of the Charlie Brooks Award. Longtime alumnus of the Brentwood Recovery Home. He served on a number of boards and committees throughout his lifetime. Michael was an avid long distance runner and participated in many marathons. Michael’s family retired his roller blades at the age of 84 after he suffered a stroke.

SUTTON FUNERAL HOME, 401 Sandwich St. S., Amherstburg (519-736-2134) on Thursday, January 23 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Legion Service (Branch 157) will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral in the Chapel on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
