EWASCHUK, Paul Nicholas

Paul passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer on December 5, 2012 at Oakville-Trafalgar Hospital at the age of 64. Predeceased by his father Paul (1990), mother Helen (1992), sister Bernadette (Bonnie)(1956) and brother Ted (1967). Ironically, Paul died on the 56th anniversary of the day in 1956 on which his sister Bonnie was tragically killed. Paul is survived by brothers Judge Eugene Ewaschuk (spouse Jean, children Glen, Michael, and Celeste) and Dr. Ernest Ewaschuk (spouse Carol, children John, Seamus, and Alexis). Paul was raised in Edgewater Beach (Anderdon) and lived in Amherstburg for more than 40 years. He was a recently retired Professor of Adult Retraining at St. Clair College in Windsor for 30 years leaving behind a host of friends and admirers, including teachers, staff and students. Paul enjoyed car racing, boating, hunting and fishing. During the last 10 years, he spent his winters in Florida with his cousin Bill Colt and Bill’s daughter Peggy. Paul was known as “Shebaba” to his many friends and as “Uncle Paul” to his nieces, nephews and cousins, all who enjoyed his good-nature, humour and generosity. He was a “rolling stone” who loved to travel in his Dodge Ram truck and visit old and new friends and places. In his weakened condition, Paul drove up from Amherstburg to visit his brothers and their families for Thanksgiving. He entered the hospital the next day and never left. Paul will be missed by all. Special thanks to Tim Sinasac, Paul’s neighbours and extended family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s name to your favourite charity would be appreciated. Visitation at JAMES H. SUTTON FUNERAL HOME, 401 Sandwich St. S., Amherstburg, on Friday, Dec. 7th, at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Service in the Chapel, at 11am on Saturday Dec. 8th, followed by burial at the St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
